Technical Lead

Location: Austin

Beneplace, an Entertainment Benefits Group company, has a great opportunity for a Leader and Technical Manager who will help manage and lead a remote software engineering team working on responsive web applications. You will get to lead your own remote team of software developers who will manage our product development, production environment, and backend API code and logic (Javascript Node). You will get to architect new ways in which we interface with partners and create exciting new technology in a fast-paced agile (and FUN!) working environment. We truly are Scrum-led and managed. This is an opportunity to join an awesome team, lead them, and if desired/over time become a direct manager as well. This is a technical position – we want people who ‘lead by doing’.

The right candidate will have experience architecting and coding full-stack web application systems such as MEAN and LAMP stacks as well as managing production deployments and debugging cloud servers such as AWS. The Technical manager should be comfortable with tools like Jenkins, Docker, and MongoDB. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • A Linux guru, comfortable with server management and debugging production issues.
  • Know and love Javascript Node
  • Familiar with SCRUM and ticketing systems like Interested or experienced in leadership, team development, and code review.
  • A self-starter and be able to manage yourself and your own time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • 7+ years coding Full-stack Web Applications
  • 3+ years coding Javascript Node (API)
  • 3+ years in a SPA Web Framework (Angular preferred)
  • 3+ years using Docker in production setting
  • Linux system administration expertise, including NGINX and networking configuration
  • Passion for code quality and code review
  • Good communication and team collaboration skills

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with Docker Swarm and/or Kubernetes
  • API development using RESTful techniques in Node/Express
  • Knowledge or experience with Angular (Typescript)
  • Knowledge or experience with test automation, such as Selenium, Mocha, and Jasmine/Karma
  • Experience working in a work ticketing system like JIRA or Pivotal
